I have not had a deck on the back of our house for quite a few years. We demolished the old one because it was falling apart and just have not got around to putting another one up. I remember years ago when I was in high school it seemed like it would never get over. I couldn’t wait to get out of school, out of the house and be on my own. Time just seemed to stand still or at best dragged by at a snail’s pace. Well, high school finally got over and then time seemed to fly by. Suddenly I am looking down the barrel at 60 years old. Each day of our mission trip to Juarez, once the days’ work was done, there was always what I called quiet time before I went to bed. It may have been just lying in my sleeping bag or sitting on the rooftop of the church in Juarez, or gazing at the lights overlooking the city of El Paso but it was a time I could spend alone with my thoughts and happenings of the day. continue reading »

I have now returned from my mission to Juarez, Mexico. Tomorrow things start to get back to normal so to speak, yet some things will never be “normal” again. I will leave for Mexico March 19th on a short term mission trip and return on March 26th. There will be no site updates during this time. I have been working toward this mission for 2 years now and since it falls in the off-season I decided not to get someone up to speed on updating the site. Especially with the strike looming and no mini camps scheduled, there will not be a lot of news that I can’t catch up with once I return. Thanks to everyone for understanding. I recently spent the entire month of January and February trying to obtain my Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement so that I could legally drive our church bus. We are leaving on a short term mission trip to Juarez, Mexico and none of our team members had the proper credentials to legally drive the bus. Three of is set out to obtain our license so that one person did not have to do all the driving. continue reading »
