God’s Chisel
Last Sunday we watched a video at church by The Skit Guys titled “God’s Chisel”. When God chisels the dead weight out of our lives it can be very painful. In one of their most requested skits, Tommy and Eddie give a very creative look at a typical believer having to go through the process of discipline. This video is about 9 minutes long but very well worth the time. I thought I would post it here for anyone that has not seen it yet. Hope you enjoy it.

Keep it up Kansasviking.
You are on a blessed journey that is sweet day by day here on earth and that leads to the perfect place for which we were created to live forever.
As a longtime guest to your web site, I am pleased to follow your growth as a Christian. You are a great encouragement.

I can’t think you enough for directing me to this video. It moved me and moved me in a very deep way. I am currently standing at the cross roads of life, trying to accept the tings of God. This video was indeed God sent. God bless you always!!

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you
who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for
you are all one in Christ Jesus.

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but
Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by
faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

A great video, and an inspiring one.
I just wish I could believe it about me. I’ve screwed up so much of my life that what was first God’s ‘masterpiece’ is now that cracked vase in somebody’s yard sale, worth whatever the buyer asks for, just so the owner can get rid of it.
I’m 54, but clearly remember the day I was confirmed. I had such a horrible feeling that day, because I felt that I had to give up all the things that I enjoyed, that wasn’t what God wanted me to do. It didn’t take long to break my oath then, or when I agreed to be a godfather but broke that oath made in church for all to see when I abandoned the church and family I was supposed to be in touch with. And other things I’ve done that I know will be shown to me at my judging before St. Peter, just before he slams those pearly gates right in my face.
God would take just two seconds to use the hammer and chisel on me, to make just one stroke and chisel out the only tiny particle of good left within me that He found. Once upon a time He made a masterpiece called me, but as time does, that masterpiece corroded, rotted, and crumbled. Only it was my free will that did the damage.
God doesn’t make garbage. People do. And once you’ve lost the pieces of the masterpiece God made of you, they’re gone forever.

Hello Kent. I can understand some of your feelings. There is not a day goes by that I don’t wonder how God could forgive a person like me with all the things I have done in the past. But I’m starting to understand that he loves all of us no matter what. Once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, our sins are forgiven, past present and future. We are still going to stumble from time to time. In fact we stumble and fall down all the time, but he is there to pick us up.
As a parent, I don’t always like what my kids have done. They get into trouble and make some stupid mistakes but I still love them no matter what they have done. God is just like that with us. We mess up and do some thing that may be totally unthinkable, but he still loves and forgives us and we are forgiven of our sins. Like the video said, it’s not always easy. In fact it’s down right hard some days, but he is there to help us in the journey.
It’s also hard not to dwell on the past. I had a lot of trouble with that and still do sometimes, but have found some of these scriptures to be helpful to me here in the recent weeks.
I especially like the one from Jeremiah. “He will remember our sins no more.” I know that sounds hard to believe at times but it’s true. I don’t have any of the answers, Kent. I’m just a year into my walk with The Lord. I can only suggest that you strengthen your relationship with him. He’s there for you and loves you no matter what you have done. Maybe seek out your Pastor and tell him some of your feelings. The guidance and comfort that a Pastor can give is a great resource available to us all.
I will keep you in my prayers Kent and pray that you find the answers to some of the things you have brought up here. Just remember that no matter what, He loves you and His blood washed away those sins.

Just finished writing to a friend who is struggling with a lot of images of selfworth and one of the things I told her in a long conversation we had is, “That God doesn’t make JUNK” Now I can send her this powerful message again. Thank you !
