About

My name is Mike Perkins, AKA “The Kansas Viking.” You probably arrived here from our main website, kansasviking.com. I have been a Minnesota Vikings fan for most of my life.

In 2008 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The purpose of this Blog is to pass along my thoughts and experiences as I walk in the light of The Lord. A good friend started me on my walk with Christ and if my thoughts and experiences can help someone out there come to the Lord, then this blog will be a great success.

I will be sharing things like music, videos and other inspirational things as they make an effect on my life.

You will also see posts from this blog listed on the main page of the football site. Football was one of the things that helped bring me to The Lord. What better way to try and bring others the message than by using the football site to accomplish that purpose.

If you have any questions you would like to address to me, please feel free to leave comment or email me. And if you are wondering how a football crazed Minnesota Vikings fan could turn to the Lord, please read My Testimony posted here on the blog.

And may the Lord be with you ……… always!

Mike-are you hanging in there? I just felt like you needed to know that there are all kinds of people all over the world praying for you and all other believers. We need to be in prayer for each other-God gives us strength through our prayers and our study of his word. Again-just felt called to remind you that you are not alone in this world.

I’m doing just fine here Dave. I spend a lot of time in prayer each day and surround myself with other Christians. My Pastor was so right when he said that you may grow in your faith by yourself, but you will never grow like you will within a group of other Christians. Those things along with my studies each day keep me right on track.

Thanks for the reminder brother, and you’ll be in my prayers.

    Hey Mike,
I happened about your website “KansasVike” today as I did a Google search for the 2008 Vikings schedule. I was encourged to see your “faith” link and was encouraged by your testimony and passion for Jesus Christ! I am a business owner in Minneapolis who sells Vikings and other sports merchandise. As you know, these can be trying times in the business world- but I have kept telling myself that no matter what the circumstance- Christ is enough for me!!! So I was encouraged by your blog, brother- keep growing in Jesus Christ!!

Thanks Rusty. Glad you liked the site. Wish I could make it up there this year. It would be great to meet up with you and some others there in Minneapolis, but things are really tight now. I’m sure God will see us back up there someday and when we make it back we’ll have to hook up or something.

Thanks for commenting and take care brother.

By grace we get what we don’t deserve.
By mercy we don’t get what we do deserve.

Mike, I learned early on the value of a personal friend and subsequently for decades used the word sparingly. I use the word acquantance or close acquaintance where others would freely use ‘friend’. It took me a while longer to discover Jesus was my friend, and he has remained so, in my heart, since. I value the few personal friends I have and consider myself blessed. It feels wonderful to know that my best friend, notwithstanding Jesus, is my wife Gail. She is my everything. She came late in my life as my third wife, she’s Jewish, more athletic than me, beats me at golf (she has youth and skill on her side). But she is sheer joy to be with, in any way. Hopefully you look for a buddy to be a friend, you look for one of your children to take on that title as well. It’s a wonderful feeling to see the friends you do have and to thank God for them. I do.

Hello Wade. While I haven’t always showed it in the past, my wife is also my best friend after Jesus Christ. I know I’m definitely a better husband to her now that Christ is in my life than I ever was before.

Thanks for the thoughts and God Bless.
