My Christmas Wish List

Christmas Gift

It’s only a week until Christmas and I was thinking of my Christmas Wish List. I actually haven’t had a real list so to speak since I was a kid but I got to thinking about all the things I have wanted and how those lists have changed over the years.

Back when I was a little kid in the early 60’s I actually made a list. We didn’t have high end electronics and computers then so most of the stuff I would ask for I would get and didn’t cost much. You could find most of the things I wanted at the Five and Dime Store. Balsa wood glider air planes or model cars you could glue together and paint. Even though some of these things didn’t last that long I still got hours of enjoyment out of them.

As I got older I noticed that while I didn’t fill out a list anymore, the things I wanted became way more expensive and harder to obtain. Large motorcycles, pickup trucks, high end camera equipment and yes electronics galore. Due to the expense I did not receive the things I wished for like I did when I was much younger.

Now as I am rounding 65 years of age in the next month I have noticed that the things I wish for have not only changed again, but have a totally different meaning. I no longer wish for tangible things. I wish for things that people can’t give me and money can’t buy. I now wish for things like empathy, compassion, humility and patience and not just for myself but for others also. Things that we can’t go to the store and get. These are all things that we could not buy or get by a work of our own. I received them 10 years ago through a relationship with Jesus Christ. He gave me a new heart and put a new spirit in me. He took away my heart of stone and gave me one of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26. He gave me these things when I became a new creation in Christ, the old me was gone and the new one took over. 2 Corinthians 5:17. With the way things are in our world today, I just feel that we all need even more of these qualities. For me that will come with diligent prayer, time spent in the Word, and my continued walk with Jesus.

If you would like to cast off the old you and become a new creation and have a relationship with Jesus, just click the Contact Me link at the top of the site page and I’d be happy to talk with you.

I just came across your site a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy the site immensely and enjoyed reading your faith journey and the most recent story of how your wants have changed as you’ve grown in the Lord. From a long time Vikings fan in Northern Minnesota and fellow believer in Jesus Christ I wish you & yours peace & joy from Him who was not only born in a manager, but is our coming King.

The more we keep in God’s word, The easier that spiritual list becomes. Lol, I remember those lists as a kid and of course, the young man dreams. But like you, The list did change 😉 Merry Christmas All. So thankful for the gift of Salvation from Jesus Christ.
